2017: Year of the Turkey?

春节快乐!Chūn jié kuài lè! Happy Chinese New Year!

2017 is the Year of the Chicken (鸡 jī), the 10th animal of the Chinese Zodiac. Those born in the Year of the Chicken are said to be courageous, honest, loyal, hard working, and popular. If you are a Chicken, 2017 is an unlucky year for you - wear red and stay on the alert to avoid bad luck!

2017 is also associated with the element Fire (火 huŏ). In Chinese, the word for "turkey" is actually "fire chicken" (火鸡 huŏ jī), so you could say that 2017 is the Year of the Turkey! The element Fire is associated with power, bravery, initiative, and courage. Famous Fire Chickens (or Turkeys) include Hans Zimmer, Stephen Fry, and Martin Luther King III.
