Adult Learners of Chinese

Depending on what part of Southern California you live in, there are many opportunities to study Chinese.

UCLA Summer Language Intensive UCLA's summer enrollment is open to visiting students so community members can sign up for this nine-week intensive that covers an entire year's instruction.

UCLA Extension Elementary Modern Chinese is offered in the evenings on the UCLA campus. This course introduces the fundamentals of standard Chinese (Mandarin), including pronunciation, grammar, and Chinese characters, emphasizing the four basic language skills.

Long Beach City College offers intensive beginning Chinese.

Los Angeles City College offers courses in elementary and intermediate Chinese. There are also introductory courses in Chinese culture.

Mount San Antonio College offers beginning and intermediate, university-transferable Chinese language courses that include both verbal and written learning, taught by native speakers.

Pasadena City College has extensive offerings in all levels of Chinese language and several aspects of Chinese culture, including calligraphy and business Chinese.

Saddleback College offers introductory classes in Chinese language and culture.

San Diego Mesa College offers three levels of Mandarin Chinese.
