UCLA: Workshop in Social Science Translation
In Summer 2007 UCLA offered a special workshop for graduate students designed to enhance research skills through translation technique development. The course was taught by Professor Michael Heim, an expert in the field of translation studies.
UCLA Extension: Introduction to the Profession of Interpretation and Translation: Chinese/English
This course provides students with a framework for understanding the skills, knowledge, abilities, and role of the interpreter and translator through a comprehensive overview of the profession as practiced in three major segments--community interpretation, health care interpretation, and legal/court interpretation. Instruction includes lectures, case studies, demonstrations, practice of the skills and modes of interpreting, self-study techniques, vocabulary and glossary development skills, and specialized terminology unique to each segment of the field.
