"Pacific Cinderella" opens the National Chinese Language Conference

On May 8, 2014 Students from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) and musicians from UCLA's Music of China Ensemble performed excerpts from Pacific Cinderella 《太平洋灰姑娘, a joint production created by students and faculty of LACHSA and their sister-school in China, the Hangzhou Arts High School.  The production looked at the commonalities between the stories of Cinderella and Ye Xian (叶限), a Chinese folk tale character who first appeared in the 9th century publication, Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang (酉阳杂俎).  LACHSA is a Confucius Classroom affiliated with the UCLA Confuicus Institute.
